Art and Lutherie Guitars

U of the Blues is proud to offer Art and Lutherie Acoustic Guitars. Art and Lutherie guitars are built with the player in mind. They are one of the best option for the beginner and advanced players will appreciate the great attention to all of the details the make a guitar look, play, and sound its best.

You should enjoy your first guitar playing experience instead of becoming discouraged by an instrument that is difficult to play.

It was with this in mind that Godin Guitar Company President & Founder, Robert Godin, set about designing a line of entry-level acoustic guitars that would bring the key attributes of pro quality guitars within the reach of novice players. Most entry-level guitars are made with an emphasis on how they look, which is fine unless it is accomplished at the expense of how the guitar sounds and feels. For example, A&L guitars are finished with genuine lacquer. This special finish is applied over a four-day process that leaves a thin coating that protects the wood without inhibiting vibration. The thick plastic finishes found on other entry level guitars are the result of a one-shot spray technique that smothers the wood and the sound along with it. And, it doesn't stop with the finish. A&L guitars are made using many of the same tolerances and techniques as those of Godin's world-renowned Seagull guitars.

Precise neck pitch, fully compensated saddles, high ratio tuners, pro-quality set-ups and playability are all features that make the A&L guitars fun to play.

After all, guitar playing is supposed to be fun.

Here are some of the models we carry.

A&L Folk Model

A&L Folk Model

In recent years the dreadnought guitar's grip on the majority of the acoustic guitar market has been giving way as more and more guitar players sample the possibilities presented by alternative body sizes and shapes. The A&L Folk model has become a particularly popular guitar. Basically, this is a steel string guitar with a body that comforms to classical guitar dimensions. The smaller size makes the Folk very comfortable to play-especially advantageous to smaller players-and it produces a sound that emphasizes more mid-range, making it a great choice for finger style players.

Available in Almond or Antique burst.

A&L Ami Model

A&L Ami Model

The AMI is modeled after the dimensions of a Parlor guitar from the early 1900's. Parlor guitars have been staging a comeback since the early 1990's and continue to gain in popularity. These clear sounding guitars are great fun to play - great for fingerstyle playing and acoustic blues. The compact size makes them very comfortable to play, not to mention very easy to carry around. The AMI is also compact enough for kids to hold comfortably and makes a great starter guitar.

Available in Almond, Blue burst and Anitque burst.
